“The Devil's in the Details” & “Eyes of Ire”

Based out of the relatively small New England state of Connecticut, Vengeance is a quartet that create some badass original heavy metal. Their upcoming album A Necessary Evil is set for release on February 15th. The band members are Debbie Seymour, vocalist, guitarist Duncan MacIntyre, bassist Pete Laurino and drummer Mark Boutot. I was honored to sample two of their songs and thoroughly loved what I heard.

“The Devil's in the Details”

Debbie is no doubt a powerhouse of a vocalist with no shortage of passion, emotion or energy. She certainly has aggressive ends to her pipes which is a lovely break from the oft repetitive melodic/operatic vocals that over saturate the scene. You can actually feel the mischief and mayhem evoked in this track. The fretwork feels different, seems to be tuned differently than the norm giving it quite a raw feeling.

“Eyes of Ire”

This track starts off slow with an almost chanting kind of vocal pattern and then revs in with her diabolically piercing pipes and some beloved old school metal rhythms. This is perfection for the battle-jacket loyalist headbangers and hints at a sound like very early era Judas Priest. I look forward to hearing more.
