Disciples of Babylon

The Rise and Fall of Babylon

Album review by Allyson Kingsley, Music Journalist with Boston Rock Radio

Disciples of Babylon are a hard rock quartet from Hollywood, California.  They formed in 2012 and the current lineup is Eric Knight, lead vocals/rhythm guitar, Ramon Blanco, lead guitar, Gui Bodi, bass guitar and Chris Toeller, drums. In 2014 they had released an EP Welcome to Babylon which was very well received. They have opened for Aerosmith, KISS, The Dave Matthews Band, Kid Rock and have also played on Vans Warped Tour.  Their latest album is The Rise and Fall of Babylon.

The classic hard rock style breathes life into their vision. This album is an ambitious array of hooky, multi-part compositions bursting with pile-driving riffs, colossal choruses and dramatic harmonies. There is an edge and swagger to the songs on this album...nicely uplifting.

“Freedom" has an excellent interplay of bass, drumming and fretwork. Rich’s clear vocals resound throughout this release.  “Lift” is lyrically beautiful.  “Civilized" is compelling arena rock.  Overall this is a kickass album with a positive vibe.  Jam along especially on those days when you need that boost to get through.
