Black Water Rising

Electrified Album Review

By Allyson Kingsley, Music Journalist

Boston Rock Radio

Black Water Rising originates from Brooklyn, NY with Rob Traynor, vocals and guitar, Dennis Kimak, guitar, Mike Meselsohn, drums and Oddie McLaughlin on bass. Their new album Electrified is set for release on November 3rd. They have toured with HellYeah, Kill Devil Hill, Kings X,  Monster Magnet and Ace Frehley among others. They received the 2010 High Times Doobie Award for Best Rock/Alternative Artist.

Feast your ears on the song “Obey" which has a grungy sound reminiscent of early  Soundgarden. Highly emotive melodic vocals, exceptionally heavy guitar riffs, potent lyrics, clear bass tones and superlative drumming create cathartic sounds on the songs “The Answer" and “Electrified.”  “Payback” has a wonderful crushing sludgy guitar intro.

This album is a stellar slab of hard rock that demonstrates impeccable musicianship and relentless grooves. It is available for preorder on iTunes and Amazon.

(Stay tuned for an interview by Nina to learn more about Black Water Rising.)
