BRR:  The band formed in 1985. Did you ever think you'd be releasing a new album and touring in 2017?

KW:  Yes, in 1985, I thought I would be “Aerosmith”, but in the 2000s, no.

BRR:  Tell me a little about the new album.

KW:  “Nova Rex: Rock Star Roadshow” is our 7th album and it’s been a long time coming.  We kick it off with our first track, “I Don’t Know”, which will rip your face off, and then our two favorite things, “Bosoms & Beer” and we also have a track called “Lock n Load”, which is dedicated to the military.

BRR:  I read that you found your lead vocalist, Adrian, in a bar. I'd love to hear that story.

KW:  I found him in a seedy bar in Tampa and he was doing shots off the floor.  He had “Rock Star” tattooed on his arm, so he got the gig.  He is by far the best singer in the band.

BRR:  I have to admit that I have satellite radio in my car, just so I can listen to Hair Nation!  Now, Nova Rex is in the Top 50 hair metal bands of all time on VH1. What do you have to say about that?

KW:  It’s a tribute to what we did and where we came from, in between Firehouse and Bullet Boys so it’s an honor to be in that ranking.  We could have ranked higher but we ran out of Aqua Net.

BRR:  HaHa.  The band is sponsored by Anheuser Busch. How did that come about?

KW:  Anheuser Busch has always been really good to us.  It started back in 1991 through the state of Indiana (my home state).  They also got us a lot of gigs from shows with Cheap Trick, Jackyl and kept the band on the road.

BRR:  You just finished an East Coast Tour.  What is on the calendar next for Nova Rex?

KW:   We are gearing up for our Florida CD Release party July 15th at the World Famous Main St. Station in Daytona Beach, hosted by Beach 92.7FM, which has us on rotation.  Then we are off to Sturgis, back out to Rockin the Rivers with Slaughter, LA Guns, and Y&T and then a big Canada run starting at Fall Jam 6 in Manitoba and ends up September 1st at the Rock Pile in Toronto, eh?

BRR:  You have a busy summer ahead of you!  The one question I always ask successful bands….Do you have any advice for aspiring musicians today?

KW:  Go to tech school.

BRR:  I've heard that before! Any further comments for your fans?

KW: Thanks for supporting us and rock n roll for the past 32 years.  Give us a like on our social media and pick up a copy of the new CD.  See ya on the road.  Kenny

BRR:  Make sure you see Nova Rex on tour, buy the new album, check out the band’s Facebook and website, and request them on Boston Rock Radio.
