I was lucky enough to be at the Vault in New Bedford for the first date of the Guitar Collective tour featuring some of the world’s most talented guitarists.  British shredder Jacky Vincent (of Cry Venom fame and formerly of Falling in Reverse) got the tour and show started solo with extremely fast, yet smooth tapping with a backing track to round out the sound.

Next up was Nita Strauss or her first feature tour.  She has been well known as the lead guitarist for the last few tours with Alice Cooper, and also her collaboration with the late Jill Janus in the supergroup called The Starbreakers. Nita’s band was outstanding and sounded like the’ve been playing together for years. The set peppered in tracks from her new album “Controlled Chaos” including a symphonic tribute to Queen’s “The Show Must Go On.”  Interestingly enough, Nita’s album debuts 1 spot back on the Billboard charts from Queen’s latest album.  Also joining Nita was local fixture East Coast Alice for a great performance of “I’m Eighteen.”

Angel Vivaldi then took control after Nita’s set, oozing with energy that I can only compare to an EDM show with shredding.  Angel also came out with a full band, showing us every trick in the guitar playbook, throwing in some that I’ve never seen before.  Like a David Copperfield performance, it was magickal.

All the artists then joined back up for an insane jam session taking their respective turns trying to outdo each other.  It was definitely a show that I didn’t want to end.
