What an exquisite experience it is to see Hemlok perform live. With their unconventional sound, it is a resplendent journey away from this world filled with beautiful sounds to delight in. Their current album Ill:Au-Delà Des Cieux is a mastery of savory notes and well-written compositions to relish and indulge in. The Massachusetts/ Rhode Island natives have an offbeat way about them and serenade with the violin, bowed/elbowed guitar, theremin and electric sitar to create a treasure of sonic rhythm that is entire their own.

“Sundiver” is an epic odyssey into an ethereal otherworld. You could set this music to a whirlwind tapestry of colors. “Travers le Néant” has a kind of Middle Eastern/ 60s psychedelia flair and Bri's vocals are absolutely angelic. Towards the end of the song it steadily gets heavier and I found my heartbeat changed along with the engrossing rhythm. Although a shorter length song “Ageless, Deathless” is enchanting and gripping right to the last note. And finally, “Moongazer,” aesthetically pleasing, stunning. Music of this caliber is to be felt within your soul. It picks you up and drifts you off where things are far more pleasant. An astounding release. See them perform live as it is a breathtaking experience.
