Azusa is:

  Eleni Zafiriadou (Sea+Air): vocals

Liam Wilson (The Dillinger Escape Plan): bass

  Christer Espevoll (Extol): guitar

  David Husvik (Extol): drums

“Interstellar Island” is the first single released off the forthcoming album Heavy Yoke from Azusa. I  was really not sure what to make of it seeing as it is generally not my style of music. It is definitely otherworldly. Eleni does a mix of clean vocals and guttural vocals of which I prefer her clean vocal style. The instrumentation is okay. The song seems to mix a variety of styles into one song but to my ears, it sounds harried and disjointed. Again, maybe it is because I am not used to this style. I will say if you pick apart the sounds - bass, drumming, guitar - each musician has their unique talent. I would probably have been able to review this better in light of having the entire work to listen to. Give it a try. It's definitely unique.
