The Ones You Forgot

Too Afraid to Say
EP Review by Ariana Leo, Music Journalist

Boston Rock Radio

New Jersey-based pop-rock quintet The Ones You Forgot return with six brand-new high-energy, impossibly catchy songs. Too Afraid to Say has arrived just in time for those windows-down-radio-all-the-way-up trips of summer. From track to track, the band keeps things fresh and keeps listeners guessing, each song boasting its own distinct mood while retaining their authentic pop-rock sound. The opening track, “One Step Ahead” serves as a rallying cry for anyone struggling with self-love, an empowering, celebratory jam. Equally empowering is the closing track, “Too Afraid to Say.” “Here Forever” explores themes of loss and the fleetingness of life, despite its upbeat pop feel, and gives all five band members a chance to shine. Lead vocalist Jenna Bruno explained that the lyrics on the EP, as its title suggest, have an overarching theme of fear and vulnerability, which perhaps comes through most strongly in the track “Everywhere, Everything.”

The Ones You Forgot are not to be forgotten as they continue to make their mark on the alternative music scene. Their new EP “Too Afraid to Say” is available now!
