Terror Squad

Far Beyond Existence

Brutal Records

March 30, 2018

Album review by Allyson Kingsley Music Journalist with Boston Rock Radio

Brazilian extreme metalists Torture Squad are certainly not new to the metal scene, having had 7 studio albums, 2 live albums and 3 EPs since their founding in 1993. Apparently metal is an obscurity in Brazil and if you've ever chanced to see any metal or rock performances filmed there, the fans go absolutely wild almost to a frenzy. We are spoiled up here, my friends. After several lineup changes Torture Squad continues their brutal maelstrom with their latest release Far Beyond Existence. Featuring Mayara “Undead” Puertas as the new vocalist along with Rene Simionato (guitarist), Amilcar Christofaro (drummer) and Castor (bassist) this album crushes with epic thrash and death metal assault.

We are granted the reward of an old school feeling with crushing drums, hefty bass and screaming guitar riffage on such songs as “Blood Sacrifice” and “Cursed by Disease.” The vocal work is immense and brutally savage and I imagine the audience erupting into total mayhem. Torture Squad have performed at Wacken Open Air Festival and have also performed with Overkill, Exodus, Soulfly, Sepultura, Anthrax, Dimmu Borgir and Tristan is among many others.
