FRANK IERO AND THE PATIENCE- WORCESTER PALLADIUM - DECEMBER 29TH, 2017

It was a chilly winter Friday night when New Jersey based band Frank Iero and the Patience rolled into town opening for Thursday, a successful band with a catalog spanning two decades.  Frank Iero and the Patience are currently touring in support of their third studio album “Keep the Coffins Coming.”  Frontman Frank Iero found success first as the rhythm guitarist for My Chemical Romance from 2002 to 2013, when they disbanded.  Not long after, in 2014, Frank Iero and the Cellebration was formed, eventually revising the band name to its’ current state the following year.

The band put on one hell of energetic set that saw the crowd surfing towards the barrier and raising their hands as they sang along.  The opening number was “World Destroyer” an amazing chaotic song with gritty notes and a fast tempo.  These guys knew what they were doing by opening with such a powerfully energetic song reminding the crowd that “If we can’t forgive then we’ll never know how far we’ve really come.  You’re not a slave to your past.”  The set raged on to include a couple tracks off their newest album such as “I’m a Mess” and “No Fun Club” as well as couple of their older hits.  Once I was done in the photo area I joined the crowd in front pit section and sang and danced along as they covered “Helter Skelter…” and damn it was electric!

It was a great night for rock ‘n roll and a great way to escape the bitter cold that lingered on outside.  Having never seen Frank Iero live I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but wow did they impress!  When I got home later that night I had to buy all three albums.  If you enjoy old school punk mixed with modern grit and angst, then you will enjoy their sound and love their live energetic set even more.
